Staff Spotlight
Meet the PDRC Staff
Meet Diana DeMaio, Princeton Detox & Recovery Center’s Tech Supervisor. Diana brings ample professional experience to the Princeton team, having worked in the field for close to a decade. Her 10 years of continuous sobriety prepares her to help others with compassion, from a place of empathy and understanding.
Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication, Diana!
Extensive Professional Experience
“I started out as a [behavioral] tech; I hadn’t even been with the company for a full year when they offered me the Lead Tech position,” Diana explains. “It was pretty amazing. They saw my work ethic and they liked what they saw. At around my two year mark they offered me the Tech Supervisor position. It was really rewarding feeling like my hard work was being acknowledged. Princeton is such a great place to work, it really is. I’ve worked in many different facilities since I was 18 months sober, and this is the best facility I’ve had the pleasure of working with.”
Diana started her journey in the addiction treatment and recovery field when she was hired on as Director of Operations for a female sober living home. She helped build the sober home from the ground up, which provided her with invaluable hands-on experience and started her on the professional trajectory she is still on to this day. She filled several different roles at other treatment facilities before finding her way to Princeton Detox & Recovery Center in May of 2020.

A Unique Clinical Experience
When asked what sets Princeton Detox & Recovery Center apart from other detox centers in the New Jersey area, Diana says, “As a team, we have become skilled at preventing clients from leaving AMA [Against Medical Advice]. Everyone does a phenomenal job at convincing clients to stay through the withdrawal process. Our clinical staff actually cares about the well-being of each individual client. I’ve worked at places where people base their success on the amount of beds that are filled. We want to guide our clients towards a better life.”
Working on the Frontlines
“Detox can be a little crazy, especially with the amount of intakes we have on a daily basis,” Diana explains. “Sometimes we get anywhere between 5 and 8 intakes on a given day, so things can get pretty hectic. But we all work together as a team. When I interview potential hires I stress the importance of working as a team. The crew we have now, we all work so well together. We might have one person doing paperwork, another person taking vitals; we all fill in where we’re needed. I think the cohesion can be largely attributed to the leadership team. The Lead Techs provide such great leadership and direction, so everyone knows exactly what role they’re going to be filling.”

“Being able to offer clients hope is one of the most meaningful parts of the process for me,” Diane says. “I can tell clients about my own background, share where I’ve come from and how much my life has changed. The recovery journey begins in detox. That’s where the seed is planted.”
A Reel Legend
When asked what she likes to do in her down time, Diana responds, “I’m married, I have two pitbulls. I love to go fishing; something I didn’t know I liked until I got sober. My husband and I go to The Florida Keys every year to fish, we also go fishing in the Everglades. I love spending time with my family and hanging out with other women in the sober community. I’m still very active in the local recovery community.”
Diana will celebrate 10 years of sobriety this month (March, 2023).
